Sucré Seize

Sweet Sixteen (French: Sucré seize) is a coming-of-age drama film adapted from the theatrical play of the same name. The film centres on eight teenage girls, who each perform monologues about their hopes, dreams and struggles navigating young womanhood in modern society

Story

Set in evocative and poetic locations, the characters explore various themes such as self-image, eating disorders, anxiety, first love, first kiss, friendship, sisterhood, sex, rape, incest, social media, and social and political revolts. Structured like a symphony, the work is divided into four movements that narratively and musically echo each other. Its distinctive visual identity positions the film somewhere between a feature-length fiction and an art piece.
